Bikash Chettri, Namchi, 26 Dec: Namchi-Singithang MLA Satish Chandra Rai led an inspection by “Team Namchi” of roads along Namchi town to identify encroachments and explore options for widening of Jorethang Road and other roads in town, and also the construction of a new car parking plaza.
While introducing Team Namchi, the MLA, who heads it, informed that Namchi DC, Anupa Tamling, and former Namchi-Singithang MLA, Krishna Kumari Rai, were key persons in the group formed for the beautification and development of Namchi town.
The Team visited Jorethang Road, Bhanjyang Road and the Car Parking Plaza.
Mr Rai informed that the initiative was taken on the demands and complaints of the people of Namchi.
Traffic was being constricted because of encroachments and parking on both sides of the road, he pointed out.
With an aim to ease parking of vehicles coming from Bhanjyang Road, the MLA has proposed the construction of a new parking plaza at Namchi Food Godown, which, he suggested, be shifted to Jorethang Road or to Kopchey.
The MLA was accompanied by SDM Namchi, AEs and JEs from the Department of Roads & Bridges, Namchi Smart City Pvt Ltd and district level executive members of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, and youth of Namchi.
He then visited Namchi District Hospital and enquired after the quality of materials used by the Hospital and also the reason behind delayed services at the Hospital as some people have complained to him, it is informed.
