A coordination meeting was held on 12 February to discuss the survey of Sakin Danda water source which aims to provide drinking water to the rural areas of Yangthang GPU, including Upper and Lower Tikjek.
The meeting, attended by representatives from various departments, panchayat members, and local samaj presidents, decided to conduct a survey of the Sakin Danda source and pipeline to ensure sustainable management and proper use of water resources.
The meeting, chaired by Panchayat President Somnath Sharma, discussed the severe drinking water problem in the area, particularly after the water sources dried up. Although the government’s “Har Ghar Jal” scheme is underway to provide water supply to rural areas, the meeting emphasized the need for a sustainable solution.
The attendees agreed that conducting a survey of the Sakin Danda water source and pipeline is crucial to ensure proper water management and utilization. A team of eight members, including representatives from line departments and the GPU, will visit the Sakin Danda water source on February 21 to conduct the survey.
