The Sikkim Rifle Association hosted a shooting workshop under the leadership of Sanjay Budathoki, President-Sikkim Rifle Association, at the Sikdeong Tulku Hall of Forest Department today.
Olympian Joydeep Karmakar, a rifle shooting Arjuna awardee, was present as the main resource person for the workshop held to promote the sport of shooting in Sikkim.
The function was also attended by Kuber Bhandari (President of Sikkim Olympic Association), Colonel Aditya Verma (Commanding Officer 3CC battalion of NCC), DFO Angel Ongmu Chettri, Bikram Bhattarai and Aaron Gurung.
While addressing the attendees, Nayan Baraily (Vice President of SRA) pointed out that shooting was a sport in which a 72-year-old can also participate and represent their country or state.
The workshop was a first for Sikkim. The Sikkim Rifle Association was established in 2024.
SRA also felicitated Mr Karmakar today.
NCC students from Tadong Senior Secondary School, Ranipool Senior Secondary School, Assam Lingzey Senior Secondary School, and Deorali Girls Senior Secondary School are attending the workshop.
