A five-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme for officials of the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj [SIRD&PR] began at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship [IIE] in Guwahati on Monday, a press release informs.
The programme is scheduled to be held from 24 to 28 February with an aim to strengthen the existing master trainers on non-farm sectors under Sikkim INSPIRES, the release adds.
The inaugural session had Vice Chancellor KK Handique State Open University, Guwahati, Rajendra Prasad Das along with Director & Dean, Professor Dr Pranav Sakiya, and Director IIE Dr Lalit Sharma. The programme aims to foster entrepreneurial skills among participants by emphasizing value creation, sustainable business development, and social impact.
In his welcome address, Dr Lalit Sharma provided an overview of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme, highlighting its role in skill enhancement and ethical business practices. Rajendra Prasad Das, in his keynote speech, emphasized that learning is a continuous process, and entrepreneurship plays a crucial role in economic transformation.
The first technical session was conducted by Associate Faculty at IIE Dr Santanu Mohan Deka, who introduced participants to the Business Model Canvas, a strategic tool for business planning.
Over the five days, the programme will cover key aspects of entrepreneurship, including understanding entrepreneurship and its role in economic development, business Model Canvas and business plan formulation, market research and feasibility analysis, financial management and resource mobilization, marketing strategies and branding and long-term business planning and sustainability.
The training is expected to enhance the capacity of existing master trainers of SIRD&PR and equip them with practical tools to promote rural entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance as envisaged in the Sikkim INSPIRES.
