Sikkim Film Cooperative Society Ltd hosted a meeting with filmmakers, artists, producers, line producers, technicians, production house owners, and film enthusiasts from across Sikkim here today. The meeting was held at the Nepali Sahitya Parishad Bhawan, Development Area, and was presided over by Deependra Mohara, the SFCS president.
The meeting centred on the growth and development of Sikkim’s film industry, with discussions focusing on collaborative opportunities for filmmakers and the challenges they encounter. Participants exchanged ideas on strategies to elevate the industry and position Sikkim as a premier destination for film production.
In honour of Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Anniversary and to promote its film industry, it was unanimously decided to organize a film festival in Sikkim supported by the Government of Sikkim and guided by the Information and Public Relations Department.
The event was attended by Tashi Bhutia, Vice President (In-charge) of the SKM Culture Wing, along with Manoj Lama, State coordinator and other members of the SKM Culture Wing, who pledged their full support for the advancement of Sikkim’s film industry.
Rupa Tamang, Vice President of SFCS, underscored the importance of showcasing Sikkim as a top-tier destination for filmmakers, emphasizing its breath-taking landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bhawesh Pradhan, Public Relations Officer of SFCS, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their dedication and contributions to the growth of Sikkim’s film industry.
This gathering marks a significant step toward fostering collaboration, innovation, and recognition for Sikkim’s film community, paving the way for a vibrant and prosperous future in cinema.
