SUMMIT REPORT, Gangtok, 10 Feb:
Sikkim Blue Duke Festival is all set to be held from 14 to 16 February at Saramsa Garden here.
The fest will celebrate technology, culture and food, and is designed to give students and youth a chance to learn new things, be creative, and have a productive time, a press release states.
The event has been initiated by the Office of Lok Sabha MP Indrahang Subba and is being organized by Sikkim365, supported by the Department of Tourism. Press Club of Sikkim and Positude are partners for the festival.
The release adds that the “three-day engagement with students and youth of Sikkim is in alignment with the ‘Sunaulo Sikkim, Samriddha Sikkim, Samartha Sikkim’ vision of the Chief Minister, and an addition to the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Sikkim Statehood Day.”
“One of the main goals of the festival is to introduce students of Sikkim to the must-learn technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones, and robotics. Prominent experts are lined up to educate our students and youth about these technologies and give them hands-on experiences. The world is being driven by AI, drones and robotics, and Sikkim cannot afford to be left out. We believe that this upcoming event is a great chance to learn about the future of technology and how it works for our highly creative Sikkimese students,” the MP has conveyed.
The organisers stress that the festival will be all about students and young people and aim to bring them the opportunity to learn and try out new things, and experiment with creativity and innovation.
They are confident that the students will pick up useful skills that will help them in studies and future careers.
Another exciting part of the festival is the food segment, which will bring together top chefs from Sikkim, Northeast India and beyond to showcase the unique food traditions of the region. It’s a great opportunity to discover and enjoy delicious local dishes.
“Entrepreneurs and youth of Sikkim will also get a chance to meet industry leaders in areas like entertainment, technology, and food. This event is a great opportunity to get advice, ask questions, and learn from experienced professionals who can guide our youth on starting their own business,” the MP shares.
The release adds, the festival will feature music performances from celebrated artistes and there will be a variety of music styles to enjoy, so there’s something for everyone.
“The festival also honours the Blue Duke butterfly, celebrating its significance as the state butterfly of Sikkim and highlighting the important role butterflies play in our ecosystem. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang had declared Blue Duke as the state butterfly in 2022. We look forward to the participation of students from schools and colleges, as well as anyone passionate about technology, food, and cultural experiences. This festival is a perfect opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired,” the release adds.
It is informed that the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has consented to inaugurate the three-day Sikkim Blue Duke Festival on 14 February.
