Rajdeep Gurung, chairperson, Gurung Ethnography Drafting Committee for the Sikkim State High Level Committee [SSHLC] pursuing the Scheduled Tribes demand of the 12 leftout communities, in a press statement issued today, attested that Chief Minister PS Tamang was not only a serious supporter of the demand, but also an involved and engaged leader in putting together the document in support of the demand.
“…I believe Sikkim is the only lucky state where the Hon’ble Chief Minister himself is very much supportive and serious in this issue, politically and technically. He is not only providing political support but also providing technical support for preparing of the write ups/ ethnography for the each 12 left out communities of Sikkim,” he puts on record.
Mr Gurung informs that he attended the second meeting of the SSHLC which was held in New Delhi on 10 Feb.
“I would like to thank Hon’ble Prem Singh Tamang Golay sir for his effort to gather all these resource persons despite of their busy schedule in this short time and taking us all the nodal representative/ technical persons of the twelve left out communities of Sikkim to the New Delhi is extremely commendable,” he states about the meeting chaired by the CM.
“I could witness HCM’s seriousness, sincerity, dedication and support for each community during the meeting. Since morning till evening during presentation by the SSHLC HCM stood for each community to avoid any lacunae in the technical write-ups,” he adds.
The Sikkim State High Level Committee (SSHLC) was constituted to prepare community ethnography write ups to meet the official criteria laid down by the Government of India for inclusion of communities in the Scheduled Tribes list.
