Governor Om Prakash Mathur chaired the Executive Board and General Council meeting of the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology at Raj Bhavan today, a press release informs. The Governor, is also the President of NIT-Deorali.
The meeting was also attended by Commissioner cum Secretary to the Governor, Jitendra Singh Raje, Secretary of Culture Department, BK Lama, Secretary of Higher Education, Education Department, Tsewang Gyachho, Director of NIT, Dr Passang D Phempu, Principal Director, Health and Family Department, Dr DC Sharma, Principal Director, Finance Department, Rajendra Sharma, former Vice Chancellor, CHITS, Varanasi, Prof Geshe Ngawang Samten OSD, Higher Education, Gwalior, Prof Anil Kumar Sharma, Additional Director, Ecclesiastical Department, Tenzing Gelay, Bhaichung Tshering Bhutia from Sikkim University, Khenpo Sonam Principal, Sikkim Higher Nyingma Studies, Angee Denzongpa Administrative Officer, NIT.
During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the importance of NIT as a significant institution.
He suggested the creation of academic posts such as Assistant Professors as per the UGC guidelines to strengthen its academic framework. He further directed the Finance Committee to explore the creation of academic posts in the institution.
Additionally, the Governor also discussed the upcoming 30-bedded Sowa Rigpa Hospital at NIT premises and further urged to make necessary appointments of the staff as required.
Earlier, Dr Passang D Phempu, Director of NIT, delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to the Governor for dedicating time to the meeting. He presented a detailed presentation of the institution.
The meeting discussed various agendas of the institution including upcoming activities and various decisions were also taken.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment from the board members to work collaboratively in elevating NIT as a premier institution of the state, with aspirations to further establish it as a renowned institution on the national and global stage. This commitment marks a significant milestone in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of statehood.
