ICFAI University-Sikkim celebrated International Women’s Day today with an event themed, “Motherly Heart: The Ultimate Need for World Peace.”
A speech competition, judged by Live Announcer of Live India Radio, Radhika Sharma and Assistant Professor Dr Dichen O Bhutia, Sikkim Government College-Burtuk, saw students share their insights on the role of women in shaping a peaceful and progressive world.
Malika Kafley secured first place, followed by Arpan Sharma from ICFAI-Sikkim on second place, and Anna Singhal from IHM Rumtek taking third place, a press release informs.
The event was attended by Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, retired Principal Chief Engineer, Pradhumna Shrestha, and Peace Master Krishna Adhikari, Secretary General of the Universal Peace Federation of India, the release adds.
A special highlight of the day was the felicitation of Preeti Sharma, an NSS student volunteer from ICFAI University Sikkim, for representing Sikkim at the Republic Day Parade 2025 in New Delhi.
