Gangtok, 10 Feb [IPR]: The Labour Department hosted a press briefing today at the conference hall in Shram Bhawan, Sokaythang, with the primary objective of raising awareness about registration of workers in both organised and unorganised sectors under the Sikkim Labour (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2021.
Addressing the media, Regul K, Secretary Labour Department, explained the labour registration process, elaborating on the rules and regulations outlined in the Sikkim Labour (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2021. He emphasised the significance of the Act, highlighting its key provisions and its applicability to both organised and unorganised sector workers.
He highlighted that only registered workers are permitted to work in Sikkim. He also discussed the penalties and enforcement mechanisms in place for those who fail to comply with the registration requirements.
Furthermore, he assured that labour registration is an ongoing process and can be completed at any time of the year at any designated labour office across the state. He urged all workers and employers to ensure timely registration to avoid legal consequences.
