SUMMIT REPORT, Jorethang 09 Jan: Chief Minister PS Tamang’s wife, former Namchi-Singithang MLA Krishna Kumari Rai, inaugurated the Maghey Mela Cinema Ghar here at the Jorethang Community Hall today.
The Cinema Ghar can accommodate more than 600 people, and among the facilities added to the community hall are a ticket counter and popcorn stall.
The movie hall is an initiative of Bhawesh Rai of Rumbuk and Sushma Sampang Rai of Chumbung.
Chief Coordinator of Maghey Mela Celebration Committee, Pavitra Manav, shared that the Cinema Ghar will screen old movies for their nostalgia as well as the films by local filmmakers over the next 12 days.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Rai stated that the State Government was working towards developing Maghey Mela as a globally recognized event of the state.
“There are many groups opposed to our plans and projects. We must not focus on them. Answering them only promotes them and gives them free publicity,” Ms Rai remarked.
‘Libistik Golai,’ a 30-minute long film, was screened at Cinema Ghar today.
