Tsultrim Palmo, Gangtok 24 Feb:
Special Commissioner, Delhi Police, Robin Hibu, the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to clear the IPS exams, spent his Sunday with Medhavi Skills University students at the Singtam campus. Apart from taking a tour of the campus, Mr Hibu delivered an inspirational talk to the students, sharing his journey from Hong village in Ziro valley of Arunachal Pradesh to the police headquarters in Delhi.
In keeping with the university’s motto, “Inspiring Leadership, Driving Change, Building the Future,” Medhavi Skills University found an apt mentor for its students in Mr Hibu who has been a strong advocate for industry integrated skill-based higher education and also founder of the NGO, Helping Hands.
MSU, in partnership with Helping Hands, operates the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Ziro, dedicated to equipping youth with industry-relevant skills of Arunachal Pradesh.
Mr Hibu, through his journey, reminded students that there were no shortcuts to success and how discipline and hard-work were required for every pursuit.
Kuldeep Sarma, the Director, Pro-Chancellor and co-founder of Medhavi, in his introductory remarks, shared the principles on which the university is based.
Addressing the event, Mr Hibu said, “It is heartening to witness the dedication of Medhavi Skills University towards skill development and industry-academia collaboration. Institutions like MSU play a crucial role in shaping the future of India by equipping students with practical skills and knowledge.”
The Pro-Chancellor, added that the university was privileged to host Mr Hibu, and stressed that his interactions with the students will definitely inspire them to work hard and aim high.
In a profile feature on the officer, Hindi-daily Navbharat Times recently reported that Mr Hibu doesn’t own any house, car, or even a two-wheeler despite being an IPS officer and donates 60% of his salary to his charity Helping Hands.
