Zakir Hussain, the renowned tabla maestro, passed away on December 15 at the age of 73 in the US. He had been hospitalized in San Francisco due to serious heart-related issues and was in the ICU, as confirmed by his close friend, flautist Rakesh Chaurasia.
Hussain, son of legendary tabla player Ustad Alla Rakha Khan, began his musical journey at age seven and made significant contributions to both Indian classical and world music. He received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan from the Government of India.
